Philly Cheese Steak Casserole
Philly Cheese Steak Casserole
Ingredients:
2 tbsp butter
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb small pasta shells
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 green pepper, diced
8 oz cream cheese
1/2 yellow onion, diced
6 slices provolone cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup reserved pasta water
32 oz beef stock
32 oz water
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the beef stock with 32 ounces of water and cook the shells according to package directions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water.
In an oven-proof skillet, melt the butter. Add garlic, bell pepper, and onion. Cook for 5 minutes until tender.
Add the ground beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, cook until done. Drain excess grease, return to heat, stir in cream cheese until melted. Pour in reserved pasta water, add noodles and shredded mozzarella. Mix well.
Layer sliced provolone on top, bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until provolone is melted.
If using a non-oven-proof skillet, transfer the mixture to a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish before adding provolone and baking.
